Memes for Monday: June 21, 2010

Hello! I follow quite a few of book bloggers and each Monday I love seeing what books everyone got and what they're reading. So I thought I would do two memes today to share!

Mailbox Monday!
This meme is hosted by Marcia at the Printed Page.

For Review:
In the Sweet Kitchen by Regan Daley
Books Bought:
Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson

It’s Monday! What Are You Reading?
This meme is hosted by Sheila at Book Journey.

Books read last week:
Heart of the Matter by Emily Giffin
The Dark Devine by Bree Despain
The Girl Who Played With Fire by Stieg Larsson
Books currently reading:
The Sweet Life in Paris: A Recipe for Living in the World's Most Delicious City
by David Lebovitz
In the Sweet Kitchen by Regan Daley
Books waiting to be opened:
The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest by Stieg Larsson
Going Bovine by Libba Bray

Here are some observations: I'm currently reading two books with "sweet" in the title. I usually prefer fiction, but I am enjoying Lebovitz's The Sweet Life in Paris and look forward to picking up others like My Life in France by Julia Child, The Spice Necklace by Ann Vanderhoof, and Heat by Bill Buford.

I read lots of YA books, mainly to check out what other children publishers are doing and sometimes for my own interests.

I have a huge TBR pile, but will only list the next two books I'm most likely going to read next.

Baaahh! Here's a little preview on what I'm working on:
What have you been up to reading/baking wise?

  2. That sheep is so cute!

I just finished The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. It started slowly for me, but it really got going, and I liked it a lot.

I wasn't as thrilled with Going Bovine-- It never quite jelled for me.

    Have a great reading week!

  3. I loved David's book The Sweet Life in Paris. I tried to make his famous Dulce de Leche brownies and they were a disaster. I did a blog post on them if your interested in reading about them www.madewithpink.com

  4. Jessiker - Thanks! =)

Sheila (Bookjourney) - I enjoyed the first book much better, it tied everything up in the end. And the mystery just hooks you in. The second one left me hanging so I'm going on to the third! Thanks for hosting the meme!

    heather - Thank you!

Chocolate Freckles - Baahhh smiles =)

Laura @ I'm Booking It - I find that happens with Stieg Larsson's books, halfway through and you still don't know who did it! Wondering how well "Going Bovine" will sit with me...

www.MadeWithPink.com - Your photos from Laduree make me so jealous of your macarons and box purchases! I'm too scared to try making macarons, but just read the section of "In the Sweet Life in Paris" where he shares a recipe... it doesn't look so intimidating now. Hopefully they turn out better than the failed brownies? =)

  6. I must be the only person in the world who hasn't yet read the Stieg Larssen books .. I am going to clear a space on my calendar to devote to a Stieg Larssen reading marathon for myself!
