A Baked Creation is the featured blog for the month of February on CityLine! We want to thank Suzanne Gardner for thinking of us and for putting this together! Hop on over to CityLine to read our interview. =)

Our Story

Welcome to A Baked Creation!
During the summer of 2008, I thought it would be fun to take three cake decorating courses at my local arts and craft store (local, meaning a 20-30 minute drive to the city north of me). To make it more fun, I brought along my boyfriend, Howard. Now wouldn't this be a fun couple activity every weekend? Needless to say, he was one of the few male bodies that attended the class.

You may have noticed that I used the word "fun" three times in the above. To tell you the truth, it was a lot of work! Sometimes, it was frustrating, messy, and tiring.

Yet, we learned a lot from our instructor about the basics of cake decorating. After that, we taught ourselves how to work more with fondant and started blogging from home in Toronto, Ontario.

We like trying new recipes and products, experiencing different types of food, and exploring new ways to decorate desserts! We especially strive to make all the decorations edible. Edible being key! So this is what you can expect from our blog.

About the baker, blogger, and photographer:
Sylvia loves reading, baking, photographing, blogging, and eating desserts. After graduating from University, she found job hunting very stressful. During the few months of unemployment, she found delight in baking and taking cake decorating lessons. Very soon after the lessons were done, she began to blog about her baking adventures.

Luckily, she was offered a job working at a publishing company. Now, she gets to help promote wonderful children book authors while munching on baked goods. Best of all, many of her authors share her love for baked goods too!

About the one who got pulled into helping the baker, blogger, and photographer:
Howard will never admit to enjoying decorating cupcakes or blogging, but secretly does. He makes a wonderful partner (and occasional dishwasher) because of his interest in creative design and eating food.
